The Manzanita Big Boy Coaxial
The MBBC coaxial Open Baffle was designed from the beginning with low power amplifier users in mind. The primary objective was to retain the positive virtues of the original Manzanita, but increase the efficiency by at least 12 db without sacrificing bass extension. By balancing baffle size, efficiency, bass extension and driver selection, the MBBC delivers a mid band efficiency of better than 96.5 db per watt.
The critical component of the MBBC is the massive 40 lb. net weight 18" cast frame coaxial driver. The large size and weight of the coax required a very heavy construction two inch thick floor standing baffle . We complete the design using an advanced 10 element high quality passive crossover.
Like the original Manzanita, you just connect a Manzanita Big Boy Coaxial to any stereo amplifier with at least 5 watts RMS per channel, set them up in an appropriate room location and you are done. No multiple amplifiers, no active crossovers, no special contour boxes to install. No wires running all over the place. Simple! Flexible!
The result is an affordable and very musical open baffle speaker system with genuine high efficiency AND extended bass response. The MBBC combines dynamic open baffle bass, seamless midrange and open, airy top end. Excellent micro and macro dynamics, sound stage depth AND width! This is a speaker that can effortlessly deliver live music playback levels in the largest of domestic settings.

18" with treated paper cone, 4" voice coil, machined & extended pole piece, corrugated surround, medium throw, large spider, 22 lb magnet assembly, heavy cast aluminum frame. 100 dbw reference efficiency.
3" coaxially mounted compression, dual stage phase plug, titanium diaphragm, 12 lb magnet assembly. Woofer cone wave guide loading. 110 dbw reference efficiency.
10 element two way with asymmetrical offset slopes, HF frequency shaping and baffle correction.
9 layer birch ply (baffle) and New Zealand Radiata knot free Pine (wings & base). Wood components CNC shaped. Includes 1" tip toes. Call for available finishes.
