The Manzanita Medium Efficiency MME
The MME, like the rest of the Manzanita family started out as an engineering exercise. The primary objective was to retain the positive virtues of the original Manzanita, but increase the efficiency by 8 db without sacrificing bass extension. By balancing baffle size, efficiency and bass extension, the MME delivers a mid band efficiency of better than 92db per watt.
We decided to make two versions, stand mounted and floor standing. We made both versions as light as possible for easy set up. We complete the design using an advanced, medium component count, high quality passive crossover.
Like the original Manzanita, you just connect the MME to any stereo amplifier with at least 5 watts RMS per channel, set them up in an appropriate room location and you are done. No multiple amplifiers, no active crossovers, no special contour boxes to install. No wires running all over the place. Simple! Flexible!
The MME is a two way design with a specially selected 18" woofer mated with a proven Seas 8" full range dual paper cone, medium excursion driver. The MME passive crossover uses only 8 electronic components.
The result is an affordable and very musical open baffle speaker system with above average efficiency. The MME combines dynamic open baffle bass, seamless midrange and open, airy top end. Excellent sound stage depth AND width!
